Lola O. Fadahunsi, MD

Dr. Fadahunsi was raised in Dallas, Texas. Her parents moved to Texas from Nigeria in the early 1970s. They sparked her interest in the medical field early on, with her mother being a nurse and father a physician. While in high school, she developed her interest in medicine while volunteering at a local nursing home and homeless shelter clinic. By the time she graduated high school, her plans to pursue a career in medicine had been solidified.

She chose to attend Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans where she graduated with honors. While attending Xavier, she participated in numerous community outreach programs. She tutored grade school children and later became a coordinator for this same tutoring program. Through her sorority she began mentoring young women and also gained a better appreciation for the importance of women’s health.

After finishing her undergraduate degree, she returned to Texas to attend medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During this time, her commitment to public service impelled her to become involved in various activities and projects. As president of the Student National Medical Association, she organized numerous health-related volunteer activities. As a volunteer with Alpha Home, she provided free medical services and counseling to women facing various forms of addiction. At this point, the idea of women’s health crystallized as not only her occupation but also her vocation, and she knew she had chosen the right career path.

After graduating from medical school, she completed her residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. During this time, she continued serving the community by volunteering as a mentor with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Anti-truancy Mentoring Program. In the summer of 2011, she returned home to Texas – returning this time for good…

In her free time, she enjoys live bands, theatre, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Each day is a blessing and even more so when she gets to do what she loves, providing compassionate care to women.
