Our physicians are active in the community. Realizing that they can play a role in women’s health by reaching out to area nonprofits and support groups, Drs. Banks, Halderman, Allen and Kidd and AWH staff make time in their busy schedules to volunteer in the McKinney area.
Some of the ways they are making a difference:
- Dr. Banks supports the Lovelife Foundation, a group benefiting the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center and other organizations that focus on abused women and children. Dr. Banks has served on the wine-tasting auction committee for more than two years. For more information visit www.lovelifefoundation.com.
- The Women’s Alliance of McKinney is a community of business professionals whose purpose is to foster leadership in women. Dr. Banks is Vice Chair of the 2004 Advisory Board.
- Our physicians work with Red Hot Mamas, a local menopause support group. They help educate women about ways to deal with changes during menopause. They offer support and encouragement during this often difficult time of life. In addition, they are available to answer questions about some of the often contradictory reports in the media about the best way to take care of yourself during menopause.
- Drs. Banks, Halderman, Allen and Kidd realize that new mothers are often overwhelmed as they figure out their new role. They have given presentations to local groups including the McKinney Mom’s Club and Mothers of Multiples to offer support as they make this transition. They provide informational sessions and answer questions from new moms in the community.
- As active members of several local churches, physicians and staff work to support various faith-based charitable programs benefiting Collin County .
- Dr. Banks and Dr. Kidd are members of the McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) Board of Trustees (2003-2007). The Foundation exists to motivate and assist MISD students in pursuing higher education, and to stimulate MISD staff to provide the highest quality K-12 education.
- Our physicians and staff are frequently interviewed by the media about important issues affecting women’s health.
